As you can see from these stats I didn't really do much today and did absolutely nothing the day before. This was a quick back and lay of Ronnie.

Just a few small places before half time, a back and a lay of the match odds market and small lay on under 3.5 goals in injury time. The 2.5 market I was backing and laying as the price went down in blocks of £14 as the price got down to 1.11 I laid for £15.

Day 4 02/03/14

I'm going to start today's report off by quoting one of the golden rules of betting:

Thou shalt not chase.

Ladies and gentlereaders today's entry is what happens when you throw the rule book out of the window. The first fixture of the day was a Serie A fixture between Cagliari at home to Udinese I settled down to trade the match in play and finished with the following results:

This left me with a profit of £1.69, however before the match I had looked at the odds and really fancied there being 45 and over booking points. Booking points equate to 10 for a yellow and 15 for a red, I placed £7.00 on this and it didn't come in.

I got it wrong I figured Cagliari would be looking to get something from the game and Udinese fighting for form would equate to a tough tackling match. However Cagliari proved to have quite a sexy game and Udinese never really put up a fight. There ended up being 40 booking points but one of these was a late booking for taking the shirt off after scoring. I completely got this one wrong and was left with -£5.31.

Next up was the League Cup final between Manchester City and Sunderland. My main bets on this were a lay of 9 and under corners for £10.00 with the rest of the bank on over 0.5 goals. I was so fixated over having a loss I was chasing to recover and I has put the meticulous blocks of £14.00 from my mind. Sunderlands on loan striker Borini would score ten minutes in netting £3.11 and as expected endless attacks proved to create a crazy amount of first half goals giving me £9.52. At this point I was back in profit, however a late goal caught me out mid trade leaving me with the following stats for the Cup final (plus a quick £14.00 trade on a Belgium league match).

This left me with a loss of -£5.76 for the day, not good stuff. During an injury in the cup final I'd nipped over to the snooker and done a quick trade on a frame market giving me 13p leaving me with a -£5.63 loss.

I turned my attention to the next fixture and the La Liga top of the table clash between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid. A quick goal led to a lead for Real, I however thought there would be more goals in it and placed my bank on over 1.5 twenty five minutes later Ateltico equalised giving me £6.89 and narrowly back in profit. However a cracking goal by Gabi Fernandez just before half time caught me out mid trade costing me £14.00 leaving me at -£12.74 for the day with a slightly sore throat after the volley of abuse I gave Fernandez.

I was panicking "ffs I'm supposed to be good at this!" and switched over to the Aston Villa Vs Norwich game. Norwich were a goal up and within a few mins of watching Benjamin Teke had equalised for Villa. My instincts told me there would be more goals so I put the bank on over 2.5 goals, two minutes later young Ben put Villa ahead. Villa would go on to gub Norwich, I made a few trades of £14 (the composure hadn't completely gone) and put the bank on over 0.5 goals on the Livorno Vs Napoli game which proved correct. This left me with a profit of £9.56

Feeling relieved with the profit I switched my attention to the One Day International between the West Indies and England & Wales. E&W were in a dominant position I placed  £14.00 on E&W @ 1.04 and another £16.55 @ 1.05. With 70 runs for only 2 wickets lost and a target of 163 the market looked all but over, however a batting collapse saw me trade out @ 1.69 and have to do a bit of trading for a loss of £9.48 leaving me a daily profit of 8p and feeling sorry for myself.

Sod it I thought I can't blog about a days trading leaving me with 8p profit, I'm all for safe and sensible trades but I would like to think I'm capable of breaking the 10p barrier for a days trading. There was one stand out fixture of the day left the Serie A fixture AC Milan Vs Juventus. I put the bank on over 0.5 goals, if there was no goal after 70 mins I'd trade out for a loss and try to salvage the challenge later. After a glorious forty four minutes Fernando Llorente put Juventus ahead leaving me with £9.37 profit and a lesson learnt - Thou Shalt Not Chase.

Lo and behold ladies and gentle readers the first loss of the challenge occurred in the Tsonga V Berdych match odds. Berdych won comfortably but Tsonga threatened to break twice so I performed a small of the Berd man which infuriatingly didn't pay off when Tsonga lost his patience and sprayed a few pivotal shots wide.

Nothing really of note here a small lay of under 25 booking points for both the Swansea and Spurs games. A small back of Juventus to qualify for the next round. The rest of the profit from the Swansea match were a few trades in the final 15 minutes. The Spurs match I traded the 2.5 goal market during the first half with a few small trades late in the second half.

The £100 Challenge Day 1

Good afternoon ladies and gentle readers, I greet you this fine day with some news. I'm going on a journey and your coming with me! Partially inspired by attempts I've read over the years I've decided to set myself a betting/exchange trading challenge. With the aid of £100 in my Betfair account I'm going to see what its possible to do over one year. Mostly I'm going to be trading in sensible amounts and trying to add to my £100 bank roll by adding to it out of my daily profits. Anyway its a bit of fun and lets see what happens I might last the year but equally could crash and burn in a few days.

Set winner markets I tend to trade in lumps of £11.08, just because its a low liquidity market and for some reason I stuck to that amount when I started trading. Match market for Djokovic was a back of £14.00 @ 1.03 and lay of £28.49 @ 1.01, skinny odds and a bit of cheap profit. The Federer match was a quick back and lay of Federer for £50.00 early in the match.

The match odds was a lazy back of £2.00 @ 1.01 as I wasn't really interested in the match market and the booking odds was a lay of 25 points and under (yellow = 10 points and red = 15 points) for £11.00 @ 5.2

This was a pre race trade of backing One Lucky Lady for £14.00 @ 1.82 and lay of £14.16 @ 1.80. I haven't come up with any strategy about how to approach horse racing with a bank this size but its a work in progress.
