Money Making Idea: 1 The Rom Com Computer Game Spin-off

Ladies and gentle readers, after a random conversation last week I believe I've stumbled onto a gap in a fairly lucrative market. One of my favourite computer game series of the last few years has been the Batman (Arkham) series and it set me thinking a lot of action games have computer game tie ins but never any romantic comedies.

Think about it, imagine "There's Something About Mary" level one, as 16 year olds you have to get Mary to the Prom* while avoiding any potential embarrassment, only to get to a cut scene at the end where your knackers get caught in your flies.

In "What Women Want" you get to spend a level being a chauvinistic pig before changing your ways for the rest of the game whilst reading womens minds.

In "My Super Ex-Girlfriend" after dumping G-Girl, you have to spend the rest of the game trying to stay alive as your super ex throws sharks and comets at you.

The possibilities are endless, although how your supposed to make up with someone using only four buttons I haven't figured out yet. No doubt there'll be a few glitches to overcome but this has the makings of a good money making plan.

  1. Actually - believe it or not - there are games such as you described here. They may not be well-known, mostly (used to be) Flash-based, and not always well executed but ... they exist.

I have spent my childhood playing an unbelievable number or games (both on consoles and computer - and if i could it might have been a calculator too (remember tetris???)) And i remember downloading random ones off the local -to -my-town internet (what do the IT guys call such networks?) where people shared random files, and yes, I remember playing games similar to what you have described here.
Sometimes the plot might have been getting into girls pants or going on a date (sometimes they were pure porn). I am not going to provide you links to those games because it will take time to find (too much time). Just take my word for it.

However those games have never made it to big labels. Perhaps they were somewhat forgotten amongst the more popular rivals. Personally, I think, they had their place there in game history somewhere.

    So, here we are.
